Masorti Olami Goes to Uganda – Help the Abayudaya Jewish Community
In their souls, the Jewish community in Uganda – the Abayudaya – have everything they need to thrive. In their hearts, they yearn to learn about Israel, their Jewish heritage and take part in the rich traditions of the religion.
But not all of them have the means. That’s why Masorti Olami is launching a campaign to help give the community the boost they need. With a target goal of $7,200, Masorti Olami wants to help collect these funds to gift the community with a proper shechita knife (for kosher slaughter), siddurim, hot plates for Shabbat and Judaica items for the community at large.
On June 30, the Abayudaya Community will be celebrating their 100 years of existence, and Masorti Olami is proud to be sending a delegation which will consist of Rabbi Mauricio Balter, Executive Director of Masorti Olami; Alan Silberman, Immediate Past President and Tehila Reuben, Director of Projects and Events. Help us arrive to the country not only with open arms, but gifts that community sorely needs.
