    ( holds the Abner and Roslyn Goldstine Dean’s Chair of the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies and is Vice President of American Jewish University in Los Angeles. Rabbi Artson has long been a passionate advocate for social justice, human dignity, diversity and inclusion. He wrote a book on Jewish teachings on war, peace and nuclear annihilation in the late 80s, became a leading voice advocating for GLBT marriage and ordination in the 90s, and has published and spoken widely on environmental ethics, special needs inclusion, racial and economic justice, cultural and religious dialogue and cooperation, and working for a just and secure peace for Israel and the Middle East. A member of the Philosophy Department, he is particularly interested in theology, ethics, and the integration of science and religion. He supervises the Miller Introduction to Judaism Program and mentors Camp Ramah in California.
    He is also dean of the Zacharias Frankel College in Potsdam, Germany, ordaining Conservative rabbis for Europe. A frequent contributor for the Huffington Post and for the Times of Israel, and a public figure Facebook page with over 20,000 likes, he is the author of 10 books and over 250 articles, most recently God of Becoming & Relationship: The Dynamic Nature of Process Theology. Married to Elana Artson, they are the proud parents of twins, Jacob and Shira.

    Rabbi William Gershon is the Senior Rabbi of Congregation Shearith Israel, Dallas Texas. Rabbi Gershon is the President of the Rabbinical Assembly, the international organization of Conservative Rabbis. He serves on the Boards of the Jewish Theological Seminary, the United Synagogue for Conservative Judaism, Mercaz USA, the Chancellor’s Rabbinic Cabinet of the Jewish Theological Seminary and the National Council of AIPAC. Rabbi Gershon also serves on the Boards of the Ann and Nate Levine Academy and Hebrew Free Loan.Rabbi Gershon is a Senior Rabbinic Fellow of the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem. He has been honored by Israel Bonds with The Israel Freedom Award for his tireless efforts and impassioned support of the State of Israel.
    Rabbi Gershon was raised in New Jersey and grew up in the Conservative Movement. He graduated with distinction from the Joint Program of the Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) and Columbia University with degrees in Bible and Ancient Near-Eastern Languages. He received his Masters in Jewish Studies and Rabbinic Ordination from JTS in 1987. In addition, he was the recipient of many academic awards.
    Prior to coming to Shearith Israel, Rabbi Gershon served pulpits in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Southfield, Michigan.
    Rabbi Gershon’s inspiring sermons, dynamic teaching and creative leadership have made an indelible impact on Congregation Shearith Israel and the Dallas Jewish community.
    Rabbi Gershon is married to Raquel Pomerantz Gershon, and they have three wonderful children, Benji, Eliana and Yoni.
